Social Marketing Associate
In August 2012 I began my first foray into marketing as the Social Marketing Associate for Participant (formerly Participant Media). I, like many entry level marketers, had no budget and high expectations. I was driven to make something out of nothing and pushed myself to get creative in order to engage and inspire our followers. Below are examples from the website and social accounts. My responsibilities included:
Creating and managing social media accounts for Participant Media
Monthly analytics for social accounts and the corporate site
Managing content updates and bug ticketing for pariticipantmedia.com
Assisting with marketing decks, research and green light documents
Managing the digital asset library
As Social Marketing Associate I supported marketing and publishing initiatives for brand promotion and film campaigns through market research, social media management, and cross-department collaboration with product. A large part of my role included saving managers time by doing research and being lead on all digital department requirements. Through our efforts to promote the brand on Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Goodreads and more I was able to contribute the following:
Increased brand awareness though the creation and management of social media accounts
Managed content updates and bug ticketing pariticipantmedia.com
Streamlined the organization of the marketing digital asset library

Solutions
I had to figure out how to persuade through collaboration. I had to find support for my ideas so projects would be considered and team up whenever possible.
Become more confident in my presenting by brining metrics, rather than gut feelings, to the table.
Codecademy was a really helpful tool I used to learn the basics of HTML.
Google was my friend in learning how to use WordPress to solve problems or identify when I needed to escalate an issue into a ticket.
